Getting your house off gas in Melbourne's south east.
Taking a home fully electric isn't four separate jobs with four separate trades turning up whenever it suits them. It's one project with an order of operations, and the electrical backbone has to come first.
01 / The job
One project, done in the right order.
Most homes across the south east were wired when the gas heater, the gas hot water unit and the gas cooktop carried the heavy lifting. Take those away and the house suddenly needs a lot more from the board: an induction cooktop, a heat pump, two or three reverse cycle units, and very often a car in the driveway as well.
So we start at the switchboard and work outwards. We calculate the finished load first, upgrade the board and mains to carry it, then bring the appliances across in whatever order suits your budget and your hot water unit's remaining lifespan. Nothing gets installed twice, and nothing gets stranded on a circuit that can't support it.
Victorian rebate and upgrade programs change regularly. We'll tell you what's available for your situation at the time you quote, and handle the paperwork on the parts we install.
The changeover
- Switchboard and mains upgraded for the finished load
- Gas cooktop to induction, on a dedicated 32A circuit
- Gas hot water to a heat pump, set up for your cheapest tariff
- Gas heating to reverse cycle split systems
- Gas supply abolished and the standing charge stopped
All at once, or in stages
- Most people do the board and mains first
- Appliances then come across as each gas unit reaches the end of its life
- We plan for the finished house either way, so staged work never costs twice
- Spare capacity is left for solar, battery and an EV
02 / How we work
Four steps, no surprises.
The same process whether it's a single power point or a full rewire.
-
STEP 01
We come and look
For anything beyond a simple repair we attend in person. Quoting a switchboard from a photo helps nobody.
-
STEP 02
You get a fixed price
Itemised, in writing, with what's included and what isn't. If we hit something genuinely unforeseen, you hear about it before we proceed.
-
STEP 03
We do the work
Arriving when we said, drop sheets down, dust managed, and the site left clean at the end of every day — not just the last one.
-
STEP 04
You get the documentation
Certificate of Electrical Safety, a labelled board schedule, test results, and warranty details. Filed, not verbal.
03 / Coverage

We're based in Melbourne's south east and work right across it, from the bayside suburbs through to the outer south east. If you're just outside this list, ask — we often are.

04 / Questions
Asked often.
Can we electrify in stages instead of all at once?
Yes, and most people do. The usual approach is to upgrade the switchboard and mains first, then replace each gas appliance as it reaches the end of its life. We design for the finished house from the start, so circuits are run once and staged work doesn't cost you more overall.
Do you handle disconnecting the gas as well?
We coordinate it. The abolishment itself is done by a licensed gas fitter and your retailer, and we make sure it happens in the right order: after everything is running on electricity, and not before. Once it's done, the gas standing charge stops appearing on your bill.
Do I need a mains upgrade to install an EV charger?
Sometimes, and it depends on the finished load rather than the charger alone. A house with gas cooking and gas hot water often has room for a 7kW charger as-is. A fully electric house with an induction cooktop, heat pump and three split systems usually doesn't. We do a capacity check before quoting so you know either way before you buy a unit.
