South eastern Melbourne · REC 29126

Split system air conditioning in Melbourne's south east.

Reverse cycle units sized to the room rather than to the cheapest box on the shelf. We supply the units ourselves, so there's one price and one person to call if anything goes wrong, or we'll fit one you've already bought.

Estimates are a guide based on typical jobs. Your fixed price is confirmed in writing before any work starts.

01 / The job

Heating and cooling that suits the room it's in.

A split system that's too small runs flat out and never quite gets there; one that's too big short-cycles and wastes power. We size each unit on the room itself: its volume, how much glazing it has, and which way it faces.

We handle the electrical and the install together, including the runs nobody wants to do: through roof cavities, around heritage cornices, and up to a second storey. Pipe and drain runs are concealed wherever the building allows, and external runs are finished in Colorbond capping, which keeps its colour instead of yellowing and going chalky the way plastic ducting does.

Reverse cycle splits are also usually the first step in taking a house off gas heating. If that's where you're headed, we'll plan the circuits for the finished house so nothing needs redoing later.

What's included

  • Sizing based on room volume, glazing and orientation
  • Dedicated circuits and isolators
  • Concealed pipe and drain runs wherever the building allows
  • Colorbond capping on the external runs
  • Outdoor unit placement planned around noise and sightlines

Good to know

  • We can supply the units, or install one you've already bought
  • Replacing gas heating? Splits are usually the first stage
  • Several units at once may need a switchboard check first
  • Quotes for split systems are free and given in writing

02 / How we work

Four steps, no surprises.

The same process whether it's a single power point or a full rewire.

  1. STEP 01

    We come and look

For anything beyond a simple repair we attend in person. Quoting a switchboard from a photo helps nobody.

  2. STEP 02

    You get a fixed price

Itemised, in writing, with what's included and what isn't. If we hit something genuinely unforeseen, you hear about it before we proceed.

  3. STEP 03

    We do the work

Arriving when we said, drop sheets down, dust managed, and the site left clean at the end of every day — not just the last one.

  4. STEP 04

    You get the documentation

Certificate of Electrical Safety, a labelled board schedule, test results, and warranty details. Filed, not verbal.

04 / Questions

Asked often.

Can we electrify in stages instead of all at once?

Yes, and most people do. The usual approach is to upgrade the switchboard and mains first, then replace each gas appliance as it reaches the end of its life. We design for the finished house from the start, so circuits are run once and staged work doesn't cost you more overall.

Do you charge for quotes?

Quotes for planned work (switchboards, EV chargers, splits, rewires and electrification) are free and given in writing after we've been on site. Fault finding is charged, because the diagnosis is the work; we'll tell you the call-out rate on the phone before we book anything in.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. NPJ Electrical Services is a Registered Electrical Contractor, REC 29126, with full public liability cover, and we issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety for every job. Our licence and ABN are in the footer and on every quote we send.
